One of our new favorite spots. I'm sure we will be returning soon!
They have such a hard time controlling their enthusiasm. Lunch didn't really last all that long. This is a gorgeous painting of Mt. McKinley. I took a picture in case they wanted to see it sometime.
Apparently, my American History education is sorely lacking. Until recently, I didn't know that the Japanese actually invaded the United States during World War II, or that there was ever a WWII land battle fought on US soil. I got a history lesson today and thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit about the units that took back the islands of Attu and Kiska from the Japanese. I am so thankful for all of these men and the many others who have fought and are fighting so that we might enjoy freedom. It is great to be an American!
Another fact that must have escaped my education somewhere is that Alaska is not only the "land of the midnight sun", but the Subaru capital of the world! If it escaped yours too ,you needn't worry because now you know. It seems like at least every other car you see is a Subaru. Cole and Carson have begun a Subaru gallery where they are collecting photos. It requires at least 2-3 stops on every downtown block for a unique photo op. (I told you they're everywhere) This was a two-fer so it was extra special. What a great day!
