This morning we went to Judy's Cafe for breakfast where we had reindeer sausage with our eggs. The breakfast was great and the temperature was 49 degrees (yes, that's fahrenheit).
After breakfast, we headed to downtown Anchorage for some sightseeing (kids' translation: lots of walking). Cliff and Becky were with us and their friend Rhonda (former student of Cliff's at MACU) was our tour guide. Here we are in Resolution Park overlooking the Cook Inlet with the statue of Cook himself.
The Saturday Market was going on as well as the Solstice Festival and the Gay Rights Parade. We went into the Market to check out the Salmon Quesadillas as well as many other Alaskan made items. The darling girl in the tank top is Rhonda (you can tell she's lives here because we all have on jackets!) Did I mention that the temperature was in the mid 50's all day?
Carson petted a sled dog puppy...
And we enjoyed the music and dancing of The Alaska Butter Box Gang!
Cliff and Becky loved the photo ops...
And so did Cole and Carson.
When we left downtown, we hiked up Flattop Mountain where we could see downtown Anchorage in the distance.
We hiked past the ash covered snow on our way up, stopping to throw a snowball and make a rare, summer, snow angel.
And then we came back to this beautiful mountainside home to relax and have a great dinner under the watchful eyes of our new friends.
And enjoy the incredible view of the Cook Inlet from the deck. (Did I mention that it's 55 degrees and broad daylight as I take this photo at 9:00 this evening?)
This is truly a magnificent place! All we need now is to learn to sleep in the daylight. You'll probably get lots of late night updates from me. Terry says the midnight sun has really brought out my inner, Energizer bunny!
seems like fun......but maybe you should feed them more. they look like they are hungry
